Along the dirt road that led up to the city, a row of five tanks and some APC’s lined the gates and walls of Yonan. The infantrymen were gathered around the tanks, who offered some protection. The Third Battalion was supposed to meet at Yonan with Marine Corps Expeditionary Units and group of Navy Special Forces, so capturing the city was essential. They also needed to restock with a nearby naval base, so the success of this battle was not negotiable.
